Preportfolio: DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS (Perspective 5 Sessions / Sketching 5 Sessions) Preportfolio: Drawing Fundamentals is a course designed around developing observational drawing and technical form in aspiring professionals. Students focus on learning proper artistic technique and the development of spatial intelligence using drawing tools. Focusing on graphite encourages a greater understanding of the interplay and physics of light and shadow, and how it responds to form. This is a skills development course recommended for older children who are pursuing arts in higher education. Some of the techniques covered: 2 and 3 point perspective, construction of objects using geometry and mathematics, life drawing and proportions, the elements and principles of design, and the golden ratio and dynamic symmetry. Preportfolio: PAINTING FUNDAMENTALS (Water Colour 5 Sessions/ Acrylic 5 Sessions) Preportfolio: Painting Fundamentals is a course designed around developing colour observation and technical form in aspiring professionals. Students focus on learning proper painting techniques, health and safety, material manufacture and proper use, and the development of accurate colour mixing through observation and theory. Students will learn colour theory, including the physics of light and design applications. It is recommended that students with less experience in visual art take this course after taking "Preportfolio: Drawing Fundamentals", as the course builds on and assumes prior knowledge of the techniques covered therein. Some of the techniques covered: Mixing accurate colours consistently, the chemistry of paint (oil, water colour, acrylic, gouache, ink), material safety, studio maintenance (brush care, proper storage), varnishing, graphic design, and developing a process.
